The Silvermark ED 1.7-10x40 riflescope from Nutrek Optics was recently tested in a variety of shooting environments to evaluate its true field capability. Unlike many LPVO-style scopes that prioritize either low-end speed or high-end precision, this model aims to bridge both, offering a usable wide zoom range, compact size, and reliable optical performance.
The following review summarizes real experience from range testing, handling impressions, and practical observations based on Coldboremiracle’s original field report.

Design & First Impressions
At first glance, the Silvermark ED presents a compact and streamlined profile. Though the turret housing is slightly larger than average, the scope remains well-balanced once mounted. The design leans toward practical field use rather than purely tactical aesthetics.
Key design observations from testing:
* The 1.7x low end is not a true 1x, but still surprisingly usable for close-range or fast-paced shooting.
* The 10x magnification offers enough reach for mid- to longer-range identification and precise aiming.
* The 40 mm objective provides a wide, bright field of view without making the scope bulky.
* Overall weight and size feel appropriate for a flexible LPVO used on hunting or general-purpose rifles.

this scope fits nicely on Coldboremiracle’s custom .22, seen here in a KRG Bravo chassis and using an Anechoic suppressor.

Controls & Adjustments
Magnification Ring
The magnification adjustment was noticeably stiff out of the box but began to smooth out with use. This is common with many scopes, and the added throw lever makes adjustments more manageable once mounted.

Parallax Adjustment
Side parallax control also felt firm initially before easing slightly during normal operation. Its position is intuitive and easy to reach.

Turrets
The windage and elevation turrets are capped and offer clean, positive clicks. Coldboremiracle described them as providing a solid and confidence-inspiring feel. Zeroing the scope was straightforward.

Illumination Dial
Illumination control sits adjacent to the parallax knob. The reticle itself illuminates more at the center rather than fully lighting the entire reticle structure, resulting in a visible but non-distracting central illumination.

These characteristics position the Silvermark ED 1.7–10x40 as a scope designed more for practical reliability than constant turret manipulation.

Optical Performance
Coldboremiracle was consistently impressed with the optical clarity throughout the scope’s magnification range. The image was described as clear and bright, with good sharpness and overall visibility in varying lighting conditions.
Though the scope does not offer true 1x performance, the 1.7x setting was still considered usable for general close-range applications. The field of view and clarity contributed to a positive visual experience during testing.
At higher magnifications, the scope maintained a clean and detailed sight picture. Coldboremiracle specifically noted excellent clarity at 10x, indicating strong optical performance relative to the scope’s intended purpose.

Field Use & Shooting Experience
During live-fire testing, the Silvermark ED 1.7–10x40 Scope performed consistently:
* Zeroing was quick and simple.
* Controls, while firm at first, felt durable and broke in gradually.
* The optical clarity made target observation and aiming comfortable across the entire zoom range.
* The scope’s overall design proved intuitive, with no distracting quirks or operational challenges.
Although this was not an extreme stress test, the scope handled normal shooting conditions without any issues or degradation of performance.

Overall Assessment
Based on real-world testing, the Silvermark ED 1.7–10x40 Scope delivers a strong combination of:
* Clear and bright optical performance
* Practical and reliable turret feel
* Functional reticle illumination
* Solid construction suited for field use
* A highly usable magnification range for both close and extended shooting
The scope offered a consistent and enjoyable shooting experience, and its optical quality stood out as one of its strongest attributes.
For shooters seeking a versatile riflescope that performs well across different scenarios without unnecessary complexity, the Silvermark ED 1.7–10x40 Scope proved itself a capable and well-rounded option.
